Direct Support Professional (DSP)

What are the requirements?

Interest and aptitude to work with and for people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities

Social skills and empathy required to relate well to others

Competence to learn and apply best practice strategies

Physical ability to perform functions of lifting, transferring, positioning, and personal hygiene

Basic language, written, and computer skills necessary for communication and documentation

Must be available some nights and weekends

Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation

As a Mattingly Edge Pre-Employment Transition (Pre-ET) Specialist, you support high school students with disabilities to:

You assist students in reaching their goals by helping them develop new skills, providing tailored resources, and creating opportunities for hands-on learning experiences in professional and community settings.

What are the requirements?

Either current or previous certification in Community Access, OR 1 year of personal or professional experience in the field of intellectual or developmental disabilities

Proven ability to assist someone with a disability to successfully engage with members of their local community.

An aptitude to work with people who have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

Physical ability to perform functions of lifting, transferring, and positioning.

Willingness to adapt one’s work schedule according to the needs of the people being supported, including the ability to work some evenings and weekends.

Reliable and safe personal transportation.

Basic language, written, and computer (Word, Excel, internet, Google apps) skills necessary for communication and documentation.
